How It Works

1. Choose Your Sampling Method

  • Tape Samples: Use 100% clear Scotch tape for the most accurate results. While Scotch tape is recommended for the most accurate results, packing tape can also be used. Avoid frosted or matte finishes. Ideal for flat surfaces such as walls, floors, cabinets, wood framing, or tiles.
  • Swab Samples: Generic Q-tips work perfectly, preferably from a sealed, unused package. Perfect for uneven, course, or fibrous surfaces such as insulation, HVAC duct, carpet, fabric, grout or textured surfacing material (e.g. popcorn ceilings).

Test multiple areas for a thorough inspection of your home. It is recommended to use one sample per surface where mold is suspected. If testing multiple rooms or surfaces, consider purchasing enough samples to cover all areas.

2. Prepare Your Samples

  • Place each sample in an individual bag, label it clearly, and double-bag all samples for added protection.
  • Complete the Chain of Custody document (provided after purchase) to record the sample details, including numbers, types, and locations.

3. Package and Ship

  • Print the Chain of Custody form and the pre-paid return shipping label (if printing isn't available at home, your local FedEx can assist for a small fee ~$0.25/page).
  • Include the samples and Chain of Custody form in your package.
  • Drop off your package at any FedEx location—free overnight shipping is included!

4. Laboratory Results Turnaround Time

  • Samples received by the lab after hours or after 2pm during normal business hours will be considered received the next business day.
  • Weekend results are available by request only, for an additional fee per sample. If you require expedited weekend results, please call us.
