Asbestos Test Kit
Asbestos Bulk & Dust Sampling
Learn More About Asbestos Testing
Each MycoTest Asbestos Kit includes sampling tools for bulk material collection — scraper, sealable collection bags, and safety packaging for regulated material transport — along with a prepaid FedEx return label for overnight laboratory shipping. Bulk sampling and dust wipe options are available depending on your testing needs.
Your sample is analyzed by an AIHA-accredited laboratory using PLM — Polarized Light Microscopy, the analytical method required by OSHA and EPA regulations for asbestos identification in bulk materials. PLM identifies the fiber type and percentage of asbestos present. Results are emailed within 1–2 business days of the lab receiving your sample. No portal login required.
Test any suspect material in a home or building constructed before 1980. Common asbestos-containing materials include:
- Popcorn ceilings and textured wall or ceiling plaster
- Floor tiles and mastic adhesive (especially 9×9 inch vinyl tiles)
- Pipe insulation, duct wrap, and boiler insulation
- Roof shingles and exterior siding
- Vermiculite attic insulation
Asbestos materials are not dangerous when intact — but before any renovation, repair, or demolition that could disturb them, testing is legally required under federal OSHA and EPA regulations.
Testing is essential for homeowners, contractors, and property managers before any renovation or repair in a pre-1980 building. Real estate buyers and sellers frequently require asbestos testing for disclosure and due diligence. Landlords in many states are legally required to disclose known asbestos hazards to tenants, and many municipalities require testing before issuing renovation permits.
Results identify whether asbestos fibers are present and report the percentage by fiber type. Under federal OSHA and EPA regulations, materials containing 1% or more asbestos by weight must be handled by a licensed abatement contractor. MycoTest results are formatted to meet the documentation requirements for renovation permits and real estate disclosures.
