Mold Test

Each MycoTest Mold Kit includes professionally-manufactured sampling tools — tape lift strips for smooth surfaces or sterile swabs for textured surfaces — plus a prepaid FedEx return label for overnight laboratory shipping. No additional equipment is needed. Everything arrives ready to use.

Your sample is analyzed at an AIHA-accredited laboratory using ASTM D7391 microscopy. A trained analyst examines the sample under magnification to count spores and identify mold species by genus. Results include a full spore count, species identification, and contamination assessment — delivered to your email within 1–2 business days of the lab receiving your sample. No portal login required.

Test when you notice any of the following:

• Musty or earthy odors that persist after cleaning
• Visible dark spots, discoloration, or growth on walls or ceilings
• Water stains, past flooding, or a plumbing leak
• Unexplained respiratory symptoms — coughing, sneezing, or eye irritation

Testing is also recommended after any water intrusion event, even with no visible mold. Colonies can establish within 24–48 hours of moisture exposure.

The laboratory identifies all common indoor mold genera including Stachybotrys chartarum (black mold), Cladosporium, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Alternaria, and Chaetomium. Results meet the documentation standards required for real estate disclosures and professional mold remediation projects.
