Lead Testing Kits

Each MycoTest Lead Dust Wipe Kit includes sterile sampling cloths, sealable collection bags, and all required packaging for certified laboratory transport — plus a prepaid FedEx return label for overnight shipping. The kit is designed for EPA-compliant dust wipe sampling of floors, windowsills, and window wells.

Your sample is analyzed at an AIHA-accredited laboratory using Flame AA — Flame Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, the EPA-required analytical method for lead dust wipe samples. Flame AA delivers precise quantitative results, reporting the exact micrograms of lead per square foot of surface sampled. Results are emailed within 1–2 business days. No portal login required.

Testing is strongly recommended for any home built before 1978, when lead-based paint was federally banned for residential use. Testing is especially important if:

• Young children or pregnant women live in or visit the home
• Paint is chipping, peeling, or deteriorating on any surface
• The home has recently undergone renovation or repair
• You are buying, selling, or renting a pre-1978 property

EPA guidelines prioritize dust wipe sampling on floors, interior windowsills, and window wells — surfaces where lead paint deteriorates through friction and generates hazardous dust. These are also the three locations required for EPA RRP post-renovation clearance testing. Additional sampling of exterior painted surfaces and soil near the foundation may be warranted based on the property’s condition and age.

Results are reported in micrograms of lead per square foot (µg/ft²). EPA clearance standards define actionable levels: 10 µg/ft² for floors, 100 µg/ft² for interior windowsills, and 400 µg/ft² for window wells. Levels exceeding these thresholds require professional lead abatement. Results are formatted to meet EPA RRP documentation requirements and real estate disclosure standards.
